Sorry so late

The pictures where taken on 4/5 but I've not had the time to sit down to do the blogging part. As you can see Justin holds himself up and he loves to bat at his toys in his play area. He thinks it is fun to scream at high picthes to get our attention and we are trying to get him out of that habit. He razzes and goos and ahhs at us as well but his favorite noise is the squeel. He likes us to give him rasberries and laughs at the sound. He loves to swing at the park and swim in the pool. He had his first rice cereal which he didn't like so I figured he wasn't ready for food yet. He's a boob man. He has grab a few of my friends while they were holding him and when he gets hungry he doesn't discriminate. Yeah he'll try to suckle anyone including Pete.

3 Months- Really?

So Justin is now three months and the time is flying. He weighs 14 lbs. and is 24-25 inches long. He smiles whenever there is not a camera around and love the gzzzzz sound. He even giggles loudly when you make the sound. He makes the gzzz sound as well as ahh -gooo which I think he is saying all good b/c that is what I say to him all the time. Pete thinks I'm over confident in my child's ability to communicate. He has a death grip so if he is holding on to your shirt when he falls asleep then too bad b/c you aren't going anywhere without waking him. He loves to watch things around him especially the dogs. Oh and he loves to suck on fabric or paper towels. Just so you know Bounty really is the "thicker picker upper" it doesn't even break apart when he sucks on it. He can be pretty demanding especially if you are not bouncing him correctly and yes there is a correct way. Grandma Skelton taught him to ride the horsie on her knee and he demands to play it at times. Its cute he kicks to go faster and everything. He loves to be flown around in the air. I think it is an ego thing b/c he is looking down on everything and body else.

Depressing thoughts

Today I came downstairs and looked around and saw the dog toys all over the floor and down the stairs and I thought "Huh how am I going to keep up with Justin dragging his toys all over the house when the dogs are also dragging their toys all over the house". Then I wondered how many of the dog toys will Justin chew on and how many baby toys will the dog chew on. Well hopefully a little dog drool never killed many children.

Footsies

So yesterday I was laying next to Justin and he woke up from his nap. I didn't notice because I was going though a scrap booking magazine and getting ideas for pages. Then I felt something kicking my foot. I looked over and there was Justin staring at my foot and kicking it with his foot. It was the cutest thing ever plus he learned the coordination it took to aim for my foot with his. I was so excited I ran downstairs to get the camera and took a bunch of pictures of him doing it then thought hey this camera records video so I recorded it as well. It is amazing to watch your little one progress and learn new things and I got super excited as well ( it was also amazing that he did it again for the camera). I think it the coolest thing when he does something new. Then again he takes up my whole day so I guess if he isn't progressing then I had a pretty boring day. He is getting into a pretty steady routine so I hope to soon have figured out how to do things I really enjoy (like scrap booking or reading) since I can start but never have any more time to finish. By the way uploading videos takes forever.

25 Random Things About Peter

1. I once scared a woman so bad she pee'd herself.
2. I don't understand how I can feel so bad for my baby when he's screaming at 2pm, but so bad for me when it's at 2am.
3. I love being out in nature. Hiking, biking, canoeing, camping, etc. are my dreams.
4. I hope to complete the Appalachian Trail (20 miles down, a couple thousand to go).
5. I love having time on my own.
6. I love spending time alone with my wife.
7. I love hanging out with a small group of friends.
8. I dislike hanging with a large group of friends.
9. I could eat cereal for every meal.
10. My favorite cereal is Fruit Loops, but I’m trying to eat healthier, so I almost never eat it.
11. I’ve swam in water with ice in it 5 times and look forward to doing it many more times (it’s a little harder now that I living in Florida)
12. I can’t spell to save my life. I owe spell check a lot of gratitude.
13. I never read a book all the way through, throughout all of high school (thank-you Coles notes and the movie adaptations)
14. I’m lousy at keeping in touch with my friends, no matter how close they are.
15. My last Wii age was 44 and it said I was overweight.
16. I love festival concerts, but have not been to one in 7 years

24. I never failed a single class in High School, but I was within a percentage or two on over 30% of them and with in 10% on 60% of them (I did much better in University).
25. I’m happier married than I ever was single (but I haven’t had a baby long enough to know if I’m happier with or without a child).

2 Months and Counting

Sorry this is late but my week seems to be just flying by. Justin is growing by the minute he is now 24 inches long and weighs 12 pounds. He has almost outgrown all his 0-3 months clothes and is long enough for the 3-6 month clothes but not fat enough so the outfits are baggy. He has been a much happier baby now that we have been doing the 5 s's (which are swaddling, side/stomach laying, swinging, shhing, and sucking). He is starting to sleep without needing to be on us. He loves his mommy and cries and fusses for his dad a lot more then me. He even laughs and smiles when he hears my voice but I am not holding him or he can't see me. He has been quite the pleasure to have. He loves to sit up straight and has great posture which I don't know where he gets it from. If he had stronger arm muscles he would already be crawling. I had him laying on

his stomach and he brings his feet all the way under his stomach and pushes out one at a time but he can't hold up his chest and head with his arms yet. Unfortunately for his parents he may learn soon enough. He recognizes Jade and smiles at her and laughs when she licks him. As I am saying he a happier baby he is screaming and won't stop and right now I am wondering why Pete is not home. Okay he is swaddled, fed and asleep now. Justin loves the song head, shoulders, knees and toes. He figured out how to bring his hand to his mouth and now sucks on it. He loves his binky and sucks on it quite often and can sometimes hold it in his mouth unassisted. He now makes more noises like gaa, hhhha, hhhhhye, yeeea, and ya. HI maybe his first word but I want to see if he keeps saying it after I do for the next couple of days or if it was a fluke. He
sleeps really well at night. He goes to bed at 9-10 o'clock and sleeps until 3am and eats and goes right back to sleep and then wakes again at 6am and goes right back to sleep until 9-10 am. He is an active baby so when he is awake and happy he still kicks his feet and flares his arms. Which is very cute but leads me to believe that I will be chasing him around the house as soon as he learns to walk. Good thing I'm still young!!

They are so mean to me

Is it a sin to think this face is the best one he gives? I swear this is one of the most heart-breaking and cutest things I have ever seen in my life. Sometimes before crying he makes this face. It took a couple of days to catch it on camera too. But I waited patiently to get it because I had to have it to show everyone. Oh the things we put our children through huh? You'd think we were horrible parents when a child gives a face this heartbreaking.

Love Him or Hate Him?

So sometimes I think the dogs love Justin. When he cries they both give him kisses. They come up and sniff him while he is sleeping and lick him. They check on him when he is in an other room. They are both way more protective since he has been home. I have even seen Jade go to him first when he was crying and lay in front of his swing or car seat. But I also know they are jealous of his toys which they are not allow to eat, as well as the binky (pacifier). They do not allow us to put Justin on them while they lay down well Toby does as long as you pet him at the same time and Justin stays still. They will lay next to him as shown above but they are cautious. So do they love him or hate him? I think (hopefully) they love him more but they still don't know where he fits into the pack.

Smile for the Camera

On January 13 Justin gave enough social smiles for me to actually get some pictures of him. Up until recently he would only really give them to me while we were home together but now he gives them to Pete and sometimes strangers. He is becoming a lot more social which is great because he does more than cry now. A part of me can't wait until he can play and move around more but another part wants him to stay a baby forever. He thinks it is hilarious when I change his diaper and tell him he has a stinky diaper. He loves his "Good morning" sessions. So at about 9am is wake up time and I have always made it a point to wake up and tell him good morning with lots of smiles and kisses. So now if I am still laying in bed at 9 he starts to coo, gaa, and caa while he kicks his legs and moves his arms to get me up. He doesn't cry but he lets me know he is ready to get up and I need to tell him good morning and play with him for a bit. Its kind of fun except when it is cold (for Florida) outside and I don't want to get out of the covers.

Has It Really Been a Month Already?

I can't believe how time is flying. Justin is one month old today. He enjoys being held, eating, being rocked and sleeping. He can lift his head when he is on his belly. He can also lift himself up with his arms if he really wants to. He scoots around by kicking his legs and arms. He has held his head up fairly well since birth but sometimes his head does bob like one of those bobble toys. He responds to noises around him and focuses on Pete and I's face. He gives a few social smiles and coos when he's not crying. He sucks on his hand when a boob or pacifer is not available. He especially likes to create milk mustaches and beards on himself whenever he is eating. He loves to be close to you so if you are sitting next to him he will inch over until he can feel you. He hates to be alone and cries when he is left in his bed while awake.
